Selena Gomez was inundated with love after announcing her engagement to Benny Blanco – including a message from best friend Taylor Swift.
After Selena, 32, posted about her engagement on Instagram, Taylor, 34, “liked” the post and popped into the comments section to write, “Yes I will be the flower girl.”
Selena shared her exciting news by posting a closeup photo of her new engagement ring, which featured a marquise diamond atop a diamond-studded band. “Forever begins now..” she captioned her post. The “Wolves” singer also shared pictures from the apparent proposal scene, which featured a picnic blanket and Taco Bell dinner, as well as a shot of her holding up her left hand while snuggling up to Benny, 36.
The former Disney star and Benny were friends and collaborators for years before getting together. She confirmed their relationship in December 2023 and said that the two had already been dating for six months at that point.
In May, Benny teased a future engagement with Selena when he appeared on The Howard Stern Show. When the radio host told his guest he was “predicting marriage” in his and Selena’s future, Benny responded, “You and me both.” At the time, he had not purchased a ring yet, but he was already looking forward to having kids with his girlfriend, adding that it was his “next goal” in life.
Selena opened up about the romance in a November interview with The Hollywood Reporter when she shared, “I see a future with this person. And when you put a little bit out there, people are not as hungry to hunt you down. Like, if they hear something, they’re going to, but if you’re like, ‘I did it,’ they’re like, ‘Oh, well there’s you, just going to Sushi Park.’ But there’s so much of my relationship that people don’t see, that’s just mine.”
The Only Murders in the Building star has also been open about wanting kids, although she revealed in September that she won’t be able to carry children on her own due to her past medical issues. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” she told Vanity Fair. “That was something I had to grieve for a while. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it will look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It will be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
Meanwhile, Taylor is in her own serious relationship with Travis Kelce. Although the two have been less open about their plans for the future, a source exclusively told Life & Style earlier this year that getting engaged is in the cards for them.
“They want it to be a non-pressured, spontaneous moment when it does happen,” the insider said. “They already consider themselves unofficially engaged. They’re both clear they’ve found their person and they love to talk about the future, kids when the time is right, and the wedding when it happens.”
