Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs is not only opening up his heart, but he wants to open his wallet to help free a woman from jail.

A former food service director at a school district in the Chicago area has been going insanely viral after she was sentenced to nine years in prison after admitting she stole $1.5 million worth of chicken wings.

Vera Liddell, who served in the director role for Harvey School District 152 near Chicago, is incarcerated at the Cook County Jail for theft and operating a criminal enterprise, according to CBS News.

Earlier this month, she pleaded guilty to the charges and got a nine-year prison sentence.

That is where Chris Jones wants to step in.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle took to his X account to announce that he is ready to pay all the money required to free her from jail. The player wrote, “I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free.”

Chris Jones wants to free Vera Lidell, who is said to be the mastermind behind the theft of mostly chicken wings over a two-year period.

It was reported that she placed separate orders for the wings via the district’s food provider, Gordon Food Service, and the orders were hidden from usual school operations.

Her operation lasted from July 2020 to February 2022, when the schools were forced to stay shut due to COVID-19.
